The Minister of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has established a 23-member Inter-Agency Data Pricing Committee to review internet data costs across all networks in Ghana.
Emphasizing his commitment to prioritizing the needs of Ghanaians over corporate interests, George highlighted a year-long delay in approving a 10% data price reduction proposal from a telecom provider due to regulatory inaction.
“Instead of us having one proposal from one MNO on one bundle offering, I want a holistic review of all the bundle offerings across all the networks,” he stated.
The newly formed committee will evaluate pricing structures across all networks and propose solutions to make internet access more affordable for Ghanaians.
