President John Dramani Mahama Pays GH₵6.08bn to Bondholders

The Ministry of Finance, following President John Dramani Mahama’s directive, has paid GH₵6.08 billion in cash to bondholders under the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP).

Additionally, the government has deposited GH₵3.46 billion into bondholders’ securities accounts as part of its Payment-In-Kind (PIK) commitment.

To prepare for future payments, GH₵9.7 billion has been placed into the Debt Service Recovery Cedi Account (Sinking Fund) to cover the fifth DDEP coupon, which is due in July and August 2025.

Felix Kwakye Ofosu, spokesperson for President Mahama, assured that the government remains committed to meeting its financial obligations. He also mentioned that the 2025 Budget Statement will introduce measures to restore market confidence, promote financial transparency, and ensure responsible spending.
