Afua Asantewaa Aduonoum has opened up about the difficulties she encountered during her initial attempt at a Guinness World Record singathon in 2023.
According to her, she faced intense spiritual battles that impacted her performance. Despite these challenges, she remained determined and successfully completed the event.
Before embarking on her first attempt, Afua sought both physical and spiritual support. However, she later realized that her spiritual strength was not sufficient to withstand the obstacles she encountered.
“Sometimes, social media comments can have a significant impact. During my first attempt, they affected me. The challenges were many, and they were spiritual. Physically, everyone knew I was going to sing, so I prepared by exercising. However, looking back, I would say I was spiritually weak. I prayed, and we even invited a pastor to pray for us, but the battle in a singathon is not easy. I speak from experience,” she explained.
She also expressed disappointment over attempts to sabotage her efforts, questioning why individuals with bad intentions would try to hinder her from achieving a Guinness World Record, especially since she was not making any financial gains from the event.
Determined to overcome these challenges in her second attempt in Kumasi, Afua and her husband embarked on a strict fast, hoping to fortify themselves spiritually and avoid the struggles they had previously faced.
