Passport Office to Operate three shifts system – Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa

Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced that the Passport Office will soon work 24 hours a day. This is part of the government’s plan to introduce a 24-hour economy.

Speaking at the Passport Office in Accra, Ablakwa said passport processing must be faster so that applicants can get their passports within a week.

“We want the Passport Office to work all day and night. This year, staff should be ready because we will introduce three shifts to reduce waiting times,” he said.

He also shared plans to introduce chip-embedded passports and connect passport data with the National Identification Authority (NIA) system to make identification easier.

To make passports more affordable, the minister said the government will lower fees for regular applicants but increase fees for premium applicants.

Ablakwa assured Passport Office workers that he is committed to improving the Foreign Affairs Ministry and making passport services better and more accessible.
