Veteran Actor Mawuli Semevo Passes Away at 63

Renowned Ghanaian actor Mawuli Semevo has sadly passed away at the age of 63. The veteran actor died on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Ridge Hospital, where he was receiving treatment after sustaining severe burns from a fire accident.

The tragic incident occurred on February 8, 2025, when Mawuli’s home caught fire while he was asleep. Judith Addison, the founder of Beyond Burns International a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting burn survivors was among the first to report his condition.

“Beyond Burns International received an urgent SOS about the accident. We visited Ridge Hospital and confirmed that veteran actor Mawuli Semevo had suffered serious burns. His condition was critical, and his life was hanging in the balance,” Judith revealed in a video statement posted on social media.

According to her, the burns covered 44% of his body, leaving him with severe respiratory injuries that made breathing difficult.

“His head to his legs everywhere was affected. He has lost all his hair,” she added.

Other actors, including Ken Fiati and Edinam Atasti, later confirmed the report, expressing their concerns over his condition.

Mawuli Semevo was widely respected for his incredible acting skills, both on stage and in films. He starred in several notable productions, including Harvest at 17, A Stab in the Dark, Escape of Love, Like Cotton Twines, and The Good Old Days: The Love of AA.

His passing marks a great loss to the Ghanaian film industry, leaving behind a legacy of remarkable performances and contributions to the arts.
