Foreign Ministry Demands Better Treatment for Visa Applicants

Concerns have been raised about the challenging conditions many applicants face, including long waiting periods, lack of proper waiting areas, and limited provisions for emergency cases.

In response, the Ministry is calling on diplomatic missions to implement urgent reforms that will improve the overall experience for visa seekers. This includes creating more comfortable and conducive waiting areas, reducing delays in appointment scheduling, and making room for urgent and emergency cases.

The Ministry emphasized that while it understands the need for thorough visa application processes, the treatment of applicants must be fair, respectful, and dignified.

Highlighting Ghana’s commitment to diplomacy and international cooperation, the Ministry reminded embassies of the shared values that underpin diplomatic relations. It urged missions to prioritize customer service and ensure that the visa application process is not unnecessarily frustrating or stressful for Ghanaians seeking to travel abroad.

Visa applications are an essential part of international travel, whether for education, business, health, or tourism. However, the Ministry insists that the process must be handled in a way that respects the rights and dignity of applicants.

The government remains committed to engaging with diplomatic missions to ensure that necessary changes are made, ultimately creating a more positive and efficient visa application experience for Ghanaians.
