I deserve to Win the Artist of the Year, this time around – King Paluta

Ghanaian musician Thomas Adjei Wireko, known as King Paluta, believes he has done more than enough to earn the prestigious Artist of the Year title at this year’s Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).

In an exclusive interview on Neat FM on Monday, March 4, 2025, King Paluta reflected on his dedication and achievements over the past year, emphasizing his consistency and influence in the industry. He highlighted his impressive run, releasing four major hit songs: Odo Bi Ye Bad, Aseda, Makoma, and For the Popping (Apicki)—which gained massive recognition both in Ghana and internationally.

Beyond his own music, he made significant contributions to the industry by featuring on over 40 songs, performing at 115 shows, and successfully launching a new album.

“Last year, I won TGMA’s Best New Artist of the Year, which was the second most prestigious award after the ultimate Artist of the Year. If I have evolved from being a new cat to making bigger moves, then I deserve the ultimate this time around,” he confidently stated.

King Paluta described 2024 as his year, stressing that his music had gained global appeal.

“I did not sleep on my talent. I have recorded back-to-back hits. My songs went worldwide people from different countries were jamming to them. It will be unfair not to be given due recognition as Artist of the Year,” he added.

A key criterion for winning Artist of the Year is headlining a major concert something King Paluta has yet to do. However, he defended this, explaining that international engagements took priority due to high demand from his global fanbase.

Apart from the top award, King Paluta is also aiming for wins in categories like Best Collaboration and Most Popular Song of the Year, citing his strong impact on the music scene. With his impressive track record in 2024, he remains optimistic about his chances at TGMA 2025.
