Accra High Court Finally gives go ahead For Daddy Lumba Funeral for December 13

The Accra High Court has officially cleared the path for the funeral of legendary highlife musician Daddy Lumba to proceed on Saturday, December 13, 2025. This ruling brings an end to months of legal uncertainty that had cast doubt over the final rites of the celebrated artiste.
Daddy Lumba, who died on July 26, 2025, at age 60, became the centre of a heated family dispute shortly after his passing. The controversy revolved around who held the rightful authority to organise, lead, and finance his funeral arrangements. Tensions escalated to the point where the court was compelled to intervene, halting preparations until clarity was established.
The court had earlier issued an injunction restraining the family head, Kofi Owusu, from proceeding with any funeral plans and barring Transitions Funeral Home from releasing the musician’s body. This decision temporarily stalled all activities, deepening public concern.
However, in its latest ruling, the High Court lifted the restrictions, affirming that the funeral could take place as scheduled. With the legal hurdles now cleared, fans, family, and the entire music fraternity can finally prepare to bid a dignified farewell to one of Ghana’s most influential musical icons.
