OLA Senior High School Ho Celebrates 71st Speech and Prize-Giving Day

Our Lady of Apostles (OLA) Senior High School in the Ho Municipality of the Volta Region has marked its 71st Speech and Prize-Giving Day celebration, recognizing dedicated individuals who have contributed to the school’s growth and development.

The event was a momentous occasion, coupled with the silver jubilee celebration of the 1999 and 2000 year groups of the Past OLA Girls Association (POGA). The celebration was supported by five other year groups, including the 2015 group, 2005 group, 1994 group, 1995 group, and the 1985 group.

The colorful event, which took place on Sunday, featured a thanksgiving service, which was used to raise funds to support the legacy project initiated last year as part of the school’s 70th-anniversary celebration.

In her address, Headmistress Ms. Benedicta Agbezudor reaffirmed the school’s commitment to providing holistic education that empowers young women with knowledge, skills, and values to navigate a changing world with confidence and integrity.

Hon. James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, a special guest of honor at the event emphasizing the importance of empowering women as economic leaders. He highlighted the theme, “Championing the Course of Female Entrepreneurs as Catalysts for Change and Socio-Economic Growth,” highlight that women-owned businesses play a crucial role in national development.

The event celebrated students’ academic and non curricular achievements also empowering OLA SHS’s commitment to raising principled, hardworking, and high-achieving female leaders.

The Past OLA Girls Association (POGA) played a significant role in supporting the event, demonstrating the strong bond between the school and its alumni.

As OLA SHS continues to produce excellence in various fields, the school remains committed to empowering young women to become leaders and change-makers in society.

Madam Edem Emerald Willberck Sabah, the Global President of the Past OLA Girls Association (POGA), emphasized the significance of the legacy project during her address. She highlighted the progress made so far and encouraged all year groups to contribute to the project’s successful completion before the school’s 75th anniversary celebration in 2029.

Each year group has been tasked with channeling their contributions towards the project, ensuring its timely completion. Madam Sabah urged all past students to make themselves available for the progress of the school, emphasizing that their support is crucial in supplementing the government’s efforts in school development.
