NFA Engages Film Legend Kwaw Ansah to Shape Ghana’s Film Industry

The leadership of the National Film Authority (NFA) recently paid a courtesy visit to Ghanaian film icon Kwaw Ansah to discuss the future of the country’s film industry and gain insights from his extensive experience.

Kwaw Ansah, a trailblazer in Ghana’s cinematic landscape, warmly welcomed the delegation and shared his perspectives on the powerful role of audiovisual media in driving social, cultural, and economic transformation. He underscored the importance of film in preserving Ghana’s heritage, shaping societal values, and contributing to national development.

Executive Secretary of the NFA, Kafui Danku-Pitcher, highlighted the significance of this engagement, emphasizing the need for a collaborative approach to leadership. She stressed that drawing wisdom from industry pioneers like Kwaw Ansah is vital to the Authority’s strategic vision and reaffirmed the NFA’s dedication to positioning Ghana’s film industry for sustainable growth and global recognition.

Deputy Executive Secretary James Gardiner also expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to engage with the legendary filmmaker. He emphasized the importance of intentionally promoting Ghanaian language and culture through film content, ensuring that the nation’s cinematic identity remains strong. Gardiner acknowledged Ansah’s invaluable contributions and stressed the need to preserve the legacy of Ghanaian film pioneers while fostering an environment for emerging talent to thrive.

This visit marks the beginning of a broader initiative by the NFA to consult with key industry veterans to strengthen collaboration, harness institutional knowledge, and ensure the continuous evolution of Ghana’s film industry. Other esteemed filmmakers, including King Ampaw, Rev. Chris Hesse, and Prof. Abequaye, are expected to be part of this ongoing dialogue.
