Ho East Presbytery Zone One Great Choir Holds 4th Biennial Rally, Focuses on Youth Empowerment

The Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana, Ho East Presbytery, has successfully concluded its 4th Biennial Rally, marking a significant milestone for the Zone One Great Choir. Held at Taviefe Avenya in the Ho Municipality, the three-day choral event brought together members from various choirs within the presbytery.

The rally’s theme, “Care for God’s Creation the task and mission of the Church, The role of Hadzihaga,” emphasized the importance of protecting and preserving God’s creation. This theme resonated deeply with the participants, who recognized the urgent need for environmental stewardship.

Madam Norah Adzoe, President of Zone One, highlighted the significance of the rally in reviving the spirit of singing and responsibility among the younger generation. She emphasized that empowering the youth is crucial for the church’s growth and development.

The Zone One Great Choir has been proactive in empowering its youth members. Last year, they invested in beekeeping, which yielded a successful harvest of four gallons of honey. The funds raised from the sale of the honey will support an empowerment training project for the youth.

The training project aims to equip the youth with skills in creating business avenues, such as soap making, organic fertilizer production, and bead making. This initiative will provide the youth with direct income-earning opportunities, enhancing their economic prospects.

Madam Adzoe announced plans to start the training program with twelve youths, selected from each group within the Zone. The program will be facilitated by a reliable resource person, who will be contracted after consultations.

Togbe Akpanya III, Chief of Taviefe Aviefe Avedome, delivered a solidarity message, emphasizing the importance of protecting God’s creation. He urged the church to prioritize environmental stewardship, warning that failure to do so would have devastating consequences for communities.

Rev. W. K. Klutse, in his sermon on “Reconciliation,” stressed the need for unity among church members. He emphasized that obedience to God’s word is essential for the church’s growth and development.

The three-day program included visits to less privileged members of the community, such as the sick, and donations to support their well-being. The participants also engaged with traditional authorities to foster communal relations between the church and the community.

The rally was a resounding success, with over Ten Thousand Ghana Cedis (10,000.00) raised for the commencement of the youth empowerment project in the Zone.

This achievement demonstrates the church’s commitment to empowering its youth members and promoting environmental stewardship.
