Elorm Beenie Champions Prostate Cancer Awareness and gives over 100 men FREE Screening and Medication in His Village Hlefi

Founder of Events 21, Artist Manager and philanthropist Elorm Beenie have launched a prostate cancer awareness campaign aimed at educating men about one of the most silent but deadly health threats they face prostate cancer.

The initiative, which kicked off in Hlefi in the Ho West District of the Volta Region, coincided with Beenie’s birthday on March 21. As part of the launch, a free screening and education exercise was conducted to mark the occasion and begin what Beenie hopes will become a nationwide movement.

Speaking about the Birthday Charity Project, Elorm Beenie explained that the rising number of prostate cancer-related deaths inspired him to take action. “The alarming rate of prostate cancer deaths informed my decision to embark on this campaign to prevent men from suffering preventable deaths,” he stated.

He emphasized that while the campaign is starting on a smaller scale, the goal is to expand across the country once the necessary resources are secured.

“Hopefully this won’t be the first of its kind. I intend to get the support so that I can do it in different parts of the region and the country as well,” he added.
In addition to raising awareness and encouraging early screening, Beenie’s campaign includes a counseling component.

This seeks to address the broader mental health challenges men face, including depression and societal pressure to remain silent about their struggles.

“Most suicide cases according to the statistics that I have seen, come from men. And all these things stem from so many issues from depression among others. So it is about time men have a renewed mindset, whereby we can engage in conversations on what is worrying them,” Beenie said.

Registered nurse and lead of the medical team, Bridget Letsa, highlighted the seriousness of the disease. She noted that prostate cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer-related deaths among men, primarily because it is often detected at an advanced stage due to lack of awareness.

Letsa underscored the importance of early detection and regular check-ups, stressing that timely diagnosis could significantly improve survival rates and reduce treatment costs.

Elorm Beenie’s initiative is a crucial step toward breaking the silence surrounding men’s health in Ghana, promoting education, early detection, and open conversations around mental and physical well-being.
