NFA Warns Ghanaian TV Stations: No More Airing Nigerian Movies Without Permission

The National Film Authority (NFA) has issued a firm warning to Ghanaian television stations against airing Nigerian movies and other creative works without proper authorization. According to the NFA, any station caught broadcasting such content without a license risks having its operating license revoked.

In a strongly worded statement, the NFA revealed that it has received numerous complaints from both local and international filmmakers about their work being illegally aired on traditional and digital platforms in Ghana. The authority emphasized that this practice not only disrespects the rights and hard work of content creators but also violates Ghana’s Copyright Act (Act 690).

The NFA made it clear that it will no longer tolerate such disregard for intellectual property laws. It urged all television stations to immediately secure the necessary licenses for any content they wish to broadcast, respect intellectual property rights, and collaborate with the NFA in classifying films and programs before airing them.
