
President John Dramani Mahama departs Accra today for official visits to Japan and Singapore as part of efforts to deepen Ghana’s trade, investment, and development partnerships.
A statement from the Presidency on Sunday, August 17, 2025, confirmed that the President will attend the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD IX) in Japan. He will deliver a plenary address on trade and investment promotion and host a Ghana Presidential Investment Forum to highlight opportunities under the “Resetting Ghana” agenda.
In Tokyo, President Mahama will meet with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, leaders of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and officials of the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO). Discussions will focus on strengthening collaboration in trade, infrastructure, technical cooperation, and investment.
From Japan, the President will travel to Singapore for a three-day state visit. His engagements include talks with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, and participation in the Africa-Singapore Business Forum. He will also address an investment forum to encourage Singaporean businesses to explore opportunities in Ghana.
The Presidency noted that the visits are expected to attract new investments, open markets for Ghanaian products, and advance cooperation in technology, finance, infrastructure, and human capital development.
