GCB Bank Moves to Secure Direct Payment System for Ghanaian TikTok Creators

GCB Bank is positioning itself as a key financial partner for Ghanaian content creators on TikTok, following a high-level meeting with the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP).
Led by Chief of Staff, Mr. Abraham Ferguson, the GCB team outlined a comprehensive payment framework aimed at ensuring local creators receive their rightful earnings through secure and reliable channels.
The bank emphasized its strong infrastructure and advanced systems, noting its seamless integration with global payment platforms such as MasterCard and Visa. This, officials said, would enable direct payments to cards, while also facilitating payouts through mobile money, bank accounts, and other convenient channels.
“Our goal is to provide Ghanaian creators with a direct and transparent means to cash out their earnings, including gifts received on TikTok,” Mr. Ferguson stated.
During the discussions, Hon. Samuel Nartey George endorsed the proposal and worked closely with TikTok’s West Africa representative, Ms. Tokumbo Ibrahim, stressing that a partnership with GCB Bank would cut out costly intermediaries and deliver greater financial benefits to creators.
Ms. Ibrahim pledged TikTok’s commitment to exploring the proposal’s feasibility, while GCB Bank expressed optimism about securing a positive outcome that would pave the way for a direct connection between the bank and TikTok.
