Hon. Dorcas Affo-Toffey Embarks on Familiarization Tour of Transport Sector Institutions

Member of Parliament for Jomoro, Hon. Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has embarked on a comprehensive familiarization tour of key organizations under the Ministry of Transport as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration and ensure effective delivery of the government’s Resetting Ghana agenda.

The institutions visited included the Regional Maritime University, Tema Shipyard and Dry Docks, Ghana Railway Maintenance Facility, and the Ghana Ports and Harbors Authority.

During her engagements, Hon. Afotey met with the leadership of these institutions to gain firsthand insight into their operations, challenges, and contributions to Ghana’s transport and maritime sectors. She emphasized the importance of working closely with management teams to enhance efficiency, modernize infrastructure, and improve service delivery.

The Jomoro MP also reaffirmed her commitment to supporting the Minister of Transport and President John Dramani Mahama in achieving the government’s pledge of rebuilding and repositioning the country’s transport sector as a driver of economic growth.

The transport sector is central to Ghana’s economic transformation. By understanding the needs and challenges of these institutions, we can better craft policies that will not only resolve bottlenecks but also unlock new opportunities for jobs and development, she said.

Hon. Dorcas Affo-Toffey’s tour was well received by the heads of the organizations, who expressed appreciation for her proactive approach and assured her of their readiness to collaborate with Parliament and the Executive to realize national goals.

The exercise forms part of her broader mandate to connect Parliament’s oversight role with practical sectoral realities.
