Obibini Expresses Frustration Over Awards

Ghanaian rapper Obibini Boafo has openly expressed his displeasure over what he describes as a deliberate lack of recognition for his artistry. Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM, Obibini said the music industry has consistently downplayed his contributions despite his years of dedication to rap.

The rapper, who has twice been nominated in the Best Rap Performance category at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards, lamented that he has never won, a situation he deems unjust.

“I just feel like it’s their way of patting me on the back and saying, ‘we see you. “But it’s unfair for someone of my caliber to still be without an award. This is Obibini we are talking about. I am the Shakespeare of rap.”

According to him, certain forces within the industry seem to be working against his progress, limiting his deserved recognition. Despite this, Obibini remains determined to push forward with his craft, insisting that true talent will always outlast industry politics.

Obibini Boafo, popularly known as Obibini, is one of Ghana’s most respected rappers, celebrated for his lyrical depth and intellectual style. A product of Zylofon Music, he carved a niche for himself with witty punchlines and wordplay that earned him the nickname “The Rapper’s Rapper.” Known for songs like Carcass and Ahye Me, Obibini blends Twi and English to deliver thought-provoking verses that set him apart.
