Samini holds private listening of ORIGIN8A album

Samini recently held a private listening session for his upcoming album, ORIGIN8A, at Lancaster Hotel in Accra on Monday, December 22. The event was attended by media personnel, industry stakeholders, fans, and fellow musicians, including Praye Tietia.
Attendees at this year’s Samini Experience will get a special preview, with performances of eight tracks from the album at Laboma Beach Hotel.
ORIGIN8A, pronounced “Originator,” is a powerful reflection of Samini’s musical journey, showcasing his roots and evolution in African music.
The 16-track album features collaborations with top artists such as Stonebwoy, M.anifest, Kofi Kinaata, Kaakie, and Mugeez. Mix Masta Garzy played a key role in the production, handling nearly 80% of the album’s sound.
According to Samini, the album represents his legacy as a trailblazer. “ORIGIN8A is about my origins, my present, and where I’m leading the industry,” he said. “The number eight signifies rebirth and continuity—this is my eighth album, and it’s deeply personal.”
He emphasized the symbolic significance, noting that the 16 tracks reflect his 20-year career multiplied by his eight albums.
The album highlights Samini’s groundbreaking moments, from winning a MOBO Award to shaping African Dancehall.
“This project celebrates my influence and the achievements that earned me the ‘Originator’ title,” he added. ORIGIN8A follows his recent single Chaana, featuring Soweto Gospel Choir, which has gained traction as a Pan-African anthem.
Other notable tracks include Bibili, 666 (feat. Kuami Eugene), Bomaye (feat. M.anifest), African Queen, and Electric Energy (feat. Stonebwoy). T
he project also includes Crazy Blue, the album’s sole reggae track. Samini revealed that he spent four years crafting the album and urged young artists to maintain a strong work ethic.
