The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC) has identified 618 unfinished infrastructure projects across the region as part of efforts to revive stalled developments. This initiative aligns with former President John Mahama’s vision to prioritize uncompleted projects.
Speaking at a press conference in Kumasi, Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene disclosed that the identified projects are currently being categorized based on their respective financing sources. Once sorted, the council will engage with relevant institutions to secure funding and resume construction.
We are grouping the projects according to their funding sources so I can lead a delegation to engage with the responsible institutions and push for their completion, Dr. Amoakohene stated.
For years, residents of the Ashanti Region have expressed frustration over the government’s failure to complete key infrastructure projects. During the 2024 Presidential election campaign, NDC Flagbearer John Mahama pledged to ensure the completion of all stalled projects if elected. In line with this commitment, the ARCC has taken inventory of abandoned developments to facilitate their revival.
Additionally, before assuming office, Dr. Amoakohene raised concerns about the deteriorating state of the Presidential and Ministerial residencies in the region. To address this, he has commissioned a team to review the management of government assets and propose recommendations for the improvement of these official residences.
The management of our assets has been a challenge for years, which is why I have assigned a team to assess the situation and provide solutions for the development of the Ministerial and Presidential residencies, he emphasized.
The council’s proactive approach signals a renewed focus on infrastructure development in the Ashanti Region, offering hope that long-abandoned projects will finally be completed.
