NCA Suspends Operations of Nine Radio Stations

The National Communications Authority (NCA) has suspended the operations of nine radio stations across the country after they failed to comply with regulatory requirements.

The affected stations include three of Wontumi Multimedia—Wontumi Radio Kumasi, Wontumi Radio Accra, and Wontumi Radio Takoradi.

According to the NCA, the action follows the expiration of a 30-day amnesty period granted to the stations to rectify breaches in their operational licenses and other regulatory obligations.

Despite the grace period, the stations reportedly failed to address the issues, prompting the regulatory body to enforce the suspension in line with its mandate to ensure compliance within the broadcasting sector.

The NCA emphasized that the move is part of its broader effort to maintain professionalism, fairness, and adherence to broadcasting standards. It assured the public that affected stations may resume operations if they take the necessary corrective measures.

The authority has urged all broadcasters to strictly comply with the nation’s broadcasting regulations to avoid similar sanctions in the future.
