Selina Boateng Talks Against Pressure in Marriage

Ghanaian gospel singer Selina Boateng has urged society to desist from pressuring individuals into marriage, warning that such pressure often forces people into unions they are neither mentally nor emotionally ready for.
In an interview with Accra-based Okay FM, the award-winning artiste stressed that marriage requires maturity and the ability to manage challenges such as abuse, nagging, or addiction. “It takes very mature people to deal with some of these things in marriage,” she noted.
She further argued that those who push others into marriage are sometimes trapped in unhappy unions themselves but conceal their struggles while encouraging others to rush into wedlock.
Her comments come after she disclosed that her six-year marriage had ended in divorce. She explained that she feels no shame as a gospel musician walking out of the relationship, insisting she would never change her identity for marriage again.
Despite her past, Selina revealed she is not closed to love, adding that she already has admirers expressing interest. “My line is choked… I have suitors. Whether I marry a pastor again, only time and God will tell,” she remarked.
