Two men in military uniforms and two civilians have reportedly been arrested by the police in Prestea of the Western Region after an alleged attempt to rob a Chinese-owned firm, LongShine Mining Company Limited.
Information indicates that the suspects were six in number, but two of the civilians are on the run. According to company officials, the suspects stormed the mining site in a pick-up truck, with the two men clad in military uniforms and the civilians masked to conceal their identities.
The group allegedly tried to force their way into the premises to carry out the robbery.
The Public Relations Officer of LongShine Mining Company Limited, Zion Rootman, confirmed the incident and praised the swift response of security authorities.
The suspects have since been transferred to the Tarkwa Regional Police Command for further investigation.
