Vice President Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang has praised the Adwumawura Programme, describing it as a transformative initiative that has the potential to redefine entrepreneurship and innovation in Ghana.
Speaking at the onboarding and orientation ceremony at the University of Ghana, she highlighted the programme, launched by President John Dramani Mahama in April 2025, as a bold step towards empowering the youth to create sustainable businesses.
Implemented by the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) under the leadership of Mr. Eric Adjei, in partnership with the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment, led by Hon.
George Opare Addo, the initiative aims to support 10,000 youth-owned businesses. From over 100,000 applications received, 10,000 were selected through a transparent process involving representatives from government, academia, the private sector, and development partners.
The Vice President commended hub trainers, development partners, and the selection committee for their pivotal roles, stressing that the programme goes beyond funding and training to instill discipline, resilience and integrity in entrepreneurs.
She reminded beneficiaries that while the government has created an enabling platform, their success depends on commitment and ethics. “Ghanaian youth are not waiting for tomorrow; they are leading today,” she affirmed.
The Adwumawura Programme stands as a testament to the government’s commitment to empowering young people and building a sustainable, innovation-driven economy.
