I will take Full Payment Before Leaving - Obaapa Christy

Ghanaian Gospel musician Rev. Obaapa Christy has made it clear that she will no longer perform at any event without receiving her full payment in advance, citing past experiences that taught her valuable lessons about professionalism and respect for her craft.

Speaking in an interview, the award-winning gospel artist emphasized the importance of valuing one’s work and ensuring fair treatment in the industry. “I will actually stand and take my money before I leave. Even if I know the person, I will still take it,” she said. “That’s because I’ve learnt my lessons on certain things. The most important thing is I deliver exactly what I’m expected to do.”

Rev. Obaapa Christy, known for timeless hits like W’asue Me and Hyebre Sesafo, revealed that her decision stems from numerous occasions where artists are underpaid or not compensated after fulfilling their commitments.

She further encouraged fellow musicians to adopt a professional approach in their dealings and never to compromise on their worth. According to her, ensuring financial transparency not only protects artists but also builds respect between performers and event organizers.
