President Mahama Joins Labour Meeting, Announces 10% Pay Increase

President John Dramani Mahama attended a meeting with the National Tripartite Committee at the Ministry of Labour, Jobs, and Employment. This meeting took place before he held his first cabinet meeting.

During his short speech, the president asked labour unions to be mindful of the country’s difficult economic situation as they discuss salary increases. He assured them that if the economy improves, he would push for better wages for workers in the next year.

After discussions, the committee decided to increase the base pay by 10% for 2025. This means that workers will see a slight increase in their salaries starting next year. The decision aims to help employees cope with the rising cost of living while also considering the current economic challenges.

The National Tripartite Committee includes representatives from the government, labour unions, and employers. Their job is to negotiate wages and other employment conditions to ensure fairness for all. The 10% pay rise was agreed upon after careful consideration of inflation, government revenue, and the ability of businesses to pay higher salaries.

President Mahama’s promise of better pay in the future if the economy recovers gives hope to workers. Many employees are struggling with high prices of goods and services, and they are eager for better wages. The government’s challenge is to balance fair wages with economic stability.
