President Mahama Seeks Council of State’s Guidance on Petitions for Chief Justice’s Removal
President John Dramani Mahama has referred three petitions demanding the removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo to the Council of State for consultation, following the provisions of Article 146 of the 1992 Constitution.
A statement from the Presidency’s Communications Directorate, issued on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, confirmed that the petitions were submitted by multiple individuals who have called on the President to take action against the Chief Justice.
