Residents of Adzimakofe to get relief as Regional Minister orders restoration of Damaged Bridge

The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, has taken swift action to address the damaged Adzimakofe bridge in Ho, directing the Ho Municipal Assembly’s project engineer and the Urban Roads engineer to take immediate action to restore the bridge.

This move comes after the minister visited the site to assess the situation and inspect the damaged bridge, which connects the Adzimakofe community to the Ho Main township.

The bridge’s destruction has caused significant disruptions, creating deep gullies, cutting off residents, and making the road completely unmotorable.

The issue is attributed to excessive water flow from a larger upstream bridge, which overwhelms the smaller bridge, causing severe flooding. This flooding has led to water spilling into homes, breaking walls, and carrying large amounts of debris into the area.

Residents of Adzimakofe have been affected by the damaged bridge for about two years, following a heavy unexpected flood that hit the Volta Regional Capital. Despite previous calls for action, the issue remained unaddressed until Hon. Gunu’s intervention.

The minister has assured the affected residents that they are taking the situation seriously and promised that repair works will begin as soon as possible to fix the problem and restore accessibility.

This development is a significant milestone in Hon. Gunu’s commitment to addressing key infrastructure challenges in the Volta Region, demonstrating his dedication to improving the lives of residents in the area.
