Kumasi National Theatre Project Gains Momentum: Rex Omar Engages Ashanti Regional Minister

In a bid to push forward the proposed National Theatre in Kumasi, Mr. Rex Owusu Marfo, popularly known as Rex Omar and the coordinator of the Black Star Experience, paid a working visit to the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene.

The meeting, held on March 7, 2025, centered on discussions regarding a suitable land allocation for the theatre project, a key promise made by H.E. John Dramani Mahama in his 2024 Creative Manifesto.

This initiative is part of broader efforts to decentralize Ghana’s arts and culture scene, offering regional talents a platform to showcase their creativity while promoting cultural expression nationwide.

It is expected to invigorate the creative economy, generate employment, and enhance the cultural landscape of the Ashanti Region.

During the engagement, Rex Omar also introduced another proposed project within the Lake Bosomtwe enclave. While details remain undisclosed, it is expected to be formally unveiled to the public and media in due course.

Both projects are poised to boost tourism, create employment opportunities, and contribute to the economic development of the Ashanti Region.

These initiatives align with the government’s vision, as outlined in the NDC Manifesto, to position Ghana as the leading tourism destination in West Africa under the Black Star Experience initiative.

Rex Omar expressed gratitude to the regional minister for his support and commitment to the creative industry.
