Kafui Danku-Pitcher Vows to Get the Industry Working Again

Renowned Ghanaian actress and Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority (NFA), Kafui Danku-Pitcher, has pledged a strong and focused commitment to rejuvenating Ghana’s ailing film industry.

In an interview with Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, Danku-Pitcher outlined her vision to address some of the most pressing challenges in the industry, particularly in the areas of funding and distribution.

“Whenever we grant interviews to discuss the issues in our industry, apart from reviving cinema culture, the conversation always circles back to funding and distribution,” she said. “It comes up in about 99% of our interviews. So, we’re committed to securing the film fund and getting the industry working again.”

Having assumed her role just a month ago, Danku-Pitcher has already begun collaborating with key industry stakeholders to lay a solid foundation for progress. Her proactive steps mark a promising beginning to a tenure focused on restructuring the sector and creating new opportunities for filmmakers and other creatives.
Her remarks have sparked a renewed wave of optimism for an industry that is rich in talent and potential, yet has long battled structural and financial hurdles.
