Government Delegation to Asantehemaa’s One-Week Observance

The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, on Friday led a high-powered government delegation to Kumasi to participate in the one-week observance of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
The solemn event, held at the Manhyia Palace, brought together dignitaries, traditional leaders, government officials, and members of the public to honor the memory of the revered Queen Mother of the Ashanti Kingdom. Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, representing President John Dramani Mahama, expressed the government’s deepest condolences to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the royal family, and the entire Ashanti Kingdom for their loss.
She noted that the late Asantehemaa played a significant role in preserving tradition, promoting unity, and supporting the socio-cultural development of the Ashanti people. The Vice President further pledged the government’s continued support and solidarity with the Asante Kingdom during this period of mourning.
The one-week observance, marked with traditional rites and cultural displays, attracted chiefs from across the country, as well as political leaders and citizens who came to pay their respects to the Queen Mother, remembered for her wisdom, compassion, and strong leadership.
