Ghanaian International artist Stonebwoy expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming support he received.
In an interview with the Afrobeats Podcast in London, he reflected on the challenges of breaking into international markets as an African musician, particularly from Ghana.
“The experience was eye-opening,” he admitted, emphasizing the difficulty of getting people to attend shows in America during his first solo winter tour. Despite the harsh weather and other obstacles, the tour, aimed at promoting his latest album, saw impressive turnouts, with a growing number of Gen Z fans embracing his music.
“The response has been fantastic,” Stonebwoy said. “I can confidently say that my music resonates with a diverse audience from the last guy in the hood to the president. That’s a beautiful thing to witness.”
He also acknowledged the challenges Ghanaian musicians face in gaining international recognition. Unlike Nigerian artists, who have solidified their presence globally, Ghanaian musicians still struggle with both internal and external barriers.
“We all know the odds are against us. Pushing through takes even more effort,” he noted.
