The Sea is Taking Our Land – Musician Edem Urges Government to Act on Tidal Waves

Ghanaian musician Edem has asked the government to find a lasting solution to the tidal waves destroying communities in the Volta Region.

Edem shared his concerns on social media, recalling how his Goget’em Foundation had previously provided relief to affected residents. However, despite these efforts, the problem continues, leaving many people at risk.

Edem directly appealed to President John Dramani Mahama, Volta Regional Minister James Gunu, and other leaders to take urgent action.

He warned that coastal erosion is quickly eating away the land and forcing people out of their homes. He urged the authorities to treat this as a priority and find a permanent fix.

Recent tidal waves have badly affected areas like Salakope and Agavedzi in the Ketu South Municipality, destroying homes and livelihoods.

Residents have long asked the government to complete the Blekusu Sea Defence Project to prevent future disasters. Edem’s call adds to their urgent plea for immediate government action.
